Mr. Dean W. Sturges, 76, of D'Iberville, MS, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009, in Gulfport. Mr. Sturges was born in Slayton, Minnesota, and had been a resident of D'Iberville for the past 32 years. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Veteran who served during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He was a member, Post Commander and Quarter Master of VFW Post 6731 of D'Iberville.
Mr. Sturges was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Sturges; son, Michael Sturges; and parents, Russell and Irene Sturges. Survivors include his daughters, Christina Sturges, Cherrie Griffin, Tammy Prevost, Lynn Breaux and Denise LaVoie; sons, Stephen Sturges, Bruce McClure and Christopher Sturges; sister, Bonnie Noding; brothers, David Sturges, Leroy Sturges, Jerry Sturges and Terry Sturges; twenty grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation is Wednesday, May 20, 2009, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
